Kern County Brain Injury Foundation was founded in 2022 by Adonica and Tyson Vickers, drawing on their years of experience providing residential care, support services, and housing for brain injury survivors. Through their work, they witnessed firsthand the gaps in the rehabilitation system that left many survivors, particularly those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, without the resources they needed to recover and thrive.
Driven by a commitment to bridge that gap, they established Kern County Brain Injury Foundation to ensure that every brain injury survivor in our community has access to essential support and resources. What began as a vision to fill an unmet need has grown into a foundation dedicated to serving survivors and their caregivers, with our work continuing to expand through our Day Habilitation program, Motivational Horizons.

Kern County Brain Injury Foundation is dedicated to empowering brain injury survivors and their families on the journey toward recovery, independence, and an improved quality of life. We take a whole-person approach, addressing not only health needs but also the social and community supports essential to healing, including stable housing, access to rehabilitation services, and meaningful connections. Through compassionate, person-centered programs, we help individuals overcome barriers, rebuild their lives, and thrive within our community.
